The John F. Kennedy Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary, a 550-acre stretch of protected wetlands, is considered to be one of the most important refuges for waterfowl in the northeast. Visitors must acquire a permit prior to entry (free for Town of Oyster Bay Residents or $50 processing fee for Non-Residents). From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the sanctuary will not open until 6PM. Permits expire at the end of the year, applicants must reapply annually. Permits will be mailed once processed, please allow 5 to 10 business days for your physical permit(s) to arrive in the mail. Parking pass must be displayed on dashboards while parking in Town lots.

Free for Town of Oyster Bay Residents ($50 processing fee for Non-Residents) looking to fish at a Town of Oyster Bay beach between the hours of 7PM and 7AM. Night fishing is permitted at the following locations, during the following dates: Harry Tappen Beach (Glenwood Landing), Theodore Roosevelt Beach (Oyster Bay), and Centre Island Beach (Bayville) permitted January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024; and TOBAY Beach (Massapequa) permitted May 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. Permits will be mailed once processed, please allow 5 to 10 business days for your physical permit(s) to arrive in the mail. Parking pass must be displayed on dashboards while parking in Town lots.

Apply here to obtain a beach waiver for Town of Oyster Bay volunteer firefighters, auxiliary police, veterans and active military, dual residency, and business vehicles. If your application is approved, you will be mailed a waiver and must bring said waiver to the beach to acquire the seasonal beach parking sticker.

Situated on 121 acres, the Town’s 18-hole, par 70, championship golf course features narrow fairways, water holes, sand and grass bunkers, as well as a putting green. A turn-of-the-century mansion offers The Mansion at Oyster Bay Catering facility and Clubhouse Grille. Golfers can also take a break at the “Halfway House”, located on the 8th tee, with amenities such as restroom facilities and a snack bar. Members enjoy advanced booking of tee times and reduced greens fees.

GOLF COURSE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATE
The Town of Oyster Bay is investing millions of dollars in major improvement projects at your Hon. Joseph Colby Golf Course in Woodbury. These improvements include new tee boxes and a new irrigation system. The course will open for play on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays after April 1st, and will open fully once tee box construction is complete.

Please understand that the course is only open because we recognize that making play available during construction is a priority to you, even though you will not be able to utilize the course as fully as you will once improvements are complete. Some holes will be closed in a rotation, but we will allow you to safely golf on the majority of the course during the construction phase.

Due to construction, all holes will be played with temporary tees until project competition in early June. We ask that you refrain from using the new tees until we officially announce their opening, as construction of these boxes must settle for long-lasting use. In regards to the irrigation project, it will be ongoing throughout the season, however, we have been assured that play will not be significantly affected.

Residents interested in enjoying time on the water can store their kayak in racks conveniently located at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park & Beach in Oyster Bay and at the Harry Tappen Beach, Pool and Marina in Glenwood Landing. Kayak racks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit one vessel per rack except for kayaks; two kayaks permitted per rack.

Renew your slip at Roosevelt or Tappen Marinas for the 2024 summer season.

A 150+ slip seasonal transient marina situated in South Oyster Bay via the TOBAY heading. The marina is a family-friendly environment complete with playgrounds, picnic tables, bathrooms, and concession stand. Facilities are restricted to Town of Oyster Bay resident boat owners or lessee of boats who submit proof of ownership and residency. Residents who are frequent visitors to TOBAY Marina may purchase a membership for discounted pricing.

Apply for winter storage at Tappen or Roosevelt Marina. Storage is available December 1, 2023 through March 31, 2024 for a full season or monthly basis.

Residents interested in enjoying time on the water can store their rowing in racks conveniently located at Centre Island Beach. Racks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
