Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
• Blowing bubbles/ submerge mouth, nose, and eyes
• Flutter kicks while holding onto the ledge
• Floating on back with guidance from the instructor
• Arm and hand treading actions
• Bobbing to keep head out of water
• Understand how to stay safe around pools and bodies of water
Level 2: Basic Swimming Skills
• Flutter kicks using kickboard with instructor’s assistance
• Fully submerge under water and hold their breath
• Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects
• Float on back independently
• Jump from side of pool into shoulder-deep water
• Tread water for 15 seconds
Level 3: Stroke Development
• Jump into deep water from the side, submerge,
then return to the surface to the entry point
• Headfirst entry from the side in seated and kneeling positions
• Float on back for 1 minute
• Push off wall in streamlined position, then begin kicking
• Swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards
• Flutter, Scissors, Breaststroke, and Dolphin kick techniques
Level 4: Stroke Improvement
• Swim underwater
• Tread water, using two different kick techniques
• Diving techniques
• Intro to turning at wall
• Elementary backstroke for 25 yards
• Breaststroke for 25 yards
• Back crawl for 15 yards
• Butterfly and Sidestroke for 15 yards

Classes are taught by American Red Cross Certified Lifeguards. Children must be 5 years of age or older to participate. For each session, classes are held weekdays for two weeks. Each class begins either at 11:15am or 12:15pm and lasts 45 minutes. The registration fee is $55 per child for the first two-week session with a season pass. If the same child signs up for additional two-week sessions, the fee will be $30 per subsequent two-week session. For those without a season pass the registration fee is $75 per child for the first two week session and $50 per subsequent two-week session.
